Worth the Trust Scholarship

Award spacer Someone once said:
"[S]he who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying."
In a similar vein, the opportunity to ride with these instructors has advanced my riding across these stepping stones—from standing, walking, running to climbing—in the hopes of one day piloting my horse into flying. This new momentum also flowed into my doctoral studies by regalvanizing my determination to pursue my riding goals in conjunction with my work towards a Ph.D. in sociology. For this, I would like to thank all these instructors, the USEA, and most especially, Joan Iversen Goswell for her generous support of aspiring event riders like myself through these scholarships. The thrill of being awarded this honor in a room filled with my riding heroes was a day I will never forget! A big thank you, also, to Mrs. Faith Osborne of Shadowfax Farms who served as my cheering section on the big day.

Thank you, Joan, for this "gift from the sea"!
