T with kids at NYSP Served as tutor/mentor to at-risk youth at Central Middle School & Harry E. Davis Middle School; arranged and chaperoned numerous educational field trips to Great Lakes Science Center, Holden Arboretum, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo & Bring in da Noise, Bring in da Funk musical. Founded WANDS program (Willing Athletes Nurturing Dynamic Students) through federal JUMP funding. This program teamed student athletes from Glenville High School with CWRU student athletes by providing youth with discipline, guidance and personal attention through activities such as tutoring, job training, college preparation and community service (see article in CWRU Observer, October ‘98); confronted and dealt with issues such as alcohol, drugs, self-esteem, friendships, family life, and violence; Participated in several Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service with numerous students. Began work at OSCS in 1996 by serving as summer tutoring coordinator at Phyllis Wheatley Center.
